BATTLESTAR GALACTIFRAK
In the series finale opener of BSG, not only did I go from "Who is the final frakking cylon" to "What? Why the frak is it that frakking character?", but I also discovered that Kentucky Fried Chicken is running a promo for BSG, offering the masses a "Frak Pak".

Now, either the execs at KFC know what "frak" means in BSG language (it was introduced in the original BSG in the 70's) and mean for us to eat Kentucky Frakked Chicken, or they think it translates to "delicious", which would have Admiral Adama telling Colonel Tighe to go delicious himself, and Apollo doesn't have a delicious idea what to do next.
(I admit the female cylons are delicious skin jobs).
Maybe they think it means extra crispy, allowing Starbuck to do a product placement thing toward the end.

Anyway, now that the fleet has found Earth, they are all secret spices screwed.
Who's Going As What For Halloween?

I'm truly curious, and here's why.
Say you identify with, and dress as, Steampunk.
Whether it be daily or just on weekends or for events.
Will you dress Steampunk for Halloween?
Can you see why I ask?

As a Pagan, I don't dress for Halloween any differently than I do on any other day, as I celebrate it in my own, private way. I belong to no pagan groups and do not participate in any group ceremonies. (I prefer to dress up on Eris Day. Nobody knows about it, so it's the perfect time because after all, it's supposed to be about surprise).

But if one does dress up on Halloween for parties and such, I believe the whole concept behind it (besides scaring off dead relatives) is to be something, for one day, that you would not, or could not, normally be. A mummy. A scarecrow. A superhero.
An historical figure.
If you are one of those things, then you'd dress up as Oreosmith or a sexy nurse or Napoleon Dynomite, or a combination of the three.

If you are a doctor, do you dress up as a doctor? Or a fireman? Or a lycanthrope?
Now you see why I ask.

In some communities I belong to, some would come in and say "I'm not really into Steampunk, but I want to dress as one for Halloween. Can you advise?"

I'd ask them the same question. How do you dress every day, because I want to be you for Halloween.

This lifestyle, for me, is not about being a certain something that is to be imitated on a holiday that has been co-opted to sell candy to children.
This is not a costume. This is how I dress.

So, why dress like you would, if and could, on a day that expects the exact opposite?

That said, what are you going as?
